Welcome to ClimbCamp

This wiki has been created to support the ClimbCamp idea by Martin Dufort and Colin Surprenant.

We want to organize a rock climbing event for geeks. This first event will take place in the Montreal area. Date as not been decided yet.

The idea is to gather both experienced climbers and neophites together and offer an initiation session to our neophites geek friends and share our passion for rock climbing!

Exact event format will be something like a 3hrs evening indoor session for initiation with a full weekend day outdoor somewhere like Val-David. We're open to suggestions. We have put some suggestions below as a template of what we want to accomplish.

Anyone interested should simply contact us (Colin or Martin).

The Format

We will be conducting the first ClimbCamp in two sessions :

  • The Initiation Session
  • A Weekend day Outdoor Over the Top (WOOT) Session

The Initiation Session

The initiation session aka "The Booting process" will be held at the indoor rock gym AllezUp.

This session will enable newcomers and experienced climbers to share climbing patterns to be applied to different climbing problems / grades and classes.

AllezUp day rate is $13 and you can rent a harness+climbing shoes for an extra $9.

AllezUp Rock Gym is located in Montreal at this location.

The Outdoor Session

The outdoor session aka "the WOOT session" will be held in the town of Val-David in the Laurentians.

The Post Session

The Post Session will be held at a local Val-David pub drinking your favorite beverage and discussing exploits and meta-routes of the day. A nice geek ending to a new activity.

The Dates

The Initiation Session

  • June 3rd @ 19:00 at AllezUp or Horizon Rock (depending on availabilty)

This session will be used to learn the basics of rock climbing in a safe environment.

From that session, We will then decide the route and the date we will do for the Woot Session.

Please subscribe to the RSS feed for ClimbCamp to stay informed of further developments.
